Teatime Talk: Bally-far-out with Donal Fallon, Phelim Drew, and A Lazarus Soul
When: Wednesday 2 June 2021 at 7pm
Where: Online via Zoom
The move to the suburbs is remembered through story and song in this Teatime Talk hosted by author Donal Fallon with guests Peter Brannigan (former resident of 14 Henrietta Street), Phelim Drew, Brian Brannigan (A Lazarus Soul), and Brian Mooney.
Across the 20th Century, thousands of Dubliners were moved from the collapsing inner city tenements into newly built flats and suburbs. For some this was a chance for fresh air, a garden and house of their own. For others, the sense of community that had kept them afloat in the tenements was lost. As Brendan Behan once quipped there was ‘no such thing as suburbia, only Siberia’.
